Surface Clamp This fast-acting surface clamp can be used anywhere you can drill a 3/4 in. (19 mm) diameter hole. The post has a wedging mechanism that anchors it firmly (horizontally or vertically) in material as thin as 5/8 in. (16 mm) (depending on the strength of the material), making it ideal for use in jigs and fixtures, e.g., sliding tables for saws. The clamp arm (which slides easily on the post when tilted, but locks at 90°) has a 2-1/8 in. (54 mm) throat depth and can grip anything from veneer to material up to 3 in. (76 mm) thick. Anchor wedging is controlled by the brass knob on the post and clamping pressure by the knob at the arm tip. Used horizontally, the post collar acts as a material support. Used vertically, the collar is a rub ring that protects workpieces from accidental damage by the post rings. 	Bormax Forstner bit 3/4 inch Do not omitt to get the right bits for the Veritas bench dogs. This Forstner bit comes from Famag in Remscheid/Germany and is good for many holes. Bench Hold Down These are the traditional bench holddowns (holdfasts), like one often sees on workbenches in old woodshops. Simple, practical and easy to use, it is really nice to see them available again. To use, one needs a hole about 1mm bigger than the holddown's shaft diameter in one's workbench. To clamp: One simply lays the piece to be clamped on the bench, slides the downhold's shaft down into the hole, places the end of the arm onto the piece, and gives the top of the shaft a couple of taps with a wooden mallet. Tension holds the piece in place. To loosen: A couple of taps on the end of the shaft from under the workbench frees the holddown. Small type Length of shaft 180 mm (7 in.) 	Clamp Head Classic English-style clamp head. On a board, 25mm (1 inch) thick, one simply drills two or more holes to take the 10 mm bolts included with the head and one has a simple and versatile bar clamp.
