The blade can be finely adjusted by means of the knurled-head screw, and the lateral adjustment is done with the lever. The no. 6 (Fore Plane) and no. 7 (Jointer Plane) are the classic British and N. American planes for removing unevenness and roughness before the jack plane or smooth plane is brought into play.
