Silky Pocket Boy

Silky, the maker, calls this small saw his Little Giant. The Pocket Boy is suitable for many pruning and woodworking tasks as well as for outdoor and camping uses. The very comfortable rubber handle makes it a pleasure to work with it. The blade can be fixed in two positions. The thickness of the blade closed to the teeth is 0.9 mm, at the back 0.6 mm. This saw is available in two sizes and 3 teeth sizes and comes in an attractive clear plastic box with wire loop to carry on belt. This is the best small sized folding saw available.

The saw with the largest teeth is designed to be used where one wants to cut quickly, but it is not important that the cut be clean, as when one is camping, working in the garden or in the forest.

The saw with the medium teeth is useful both in the garden and in the workshop. The somewhat finer teeth than one usually finds on a folding saw makes this model useful for pruning and grafting fruit trees, where a relatively clean cut is very often desired. A customer told us that although this saw is not recommended for cutting green, wet wood, that it cut very well for him under these conditions.

The saw with the fine teeth can be used alongside our Japanese cabinet maker saws. The cut is so fine and clean that the saw also works well for model building. Because of it’s compact size, the saw is especially well suited for touch-up work and small cuts when installing larger projects, like kitchens and other built-in furniture projects.

Pole Saw Kengyu

This light and easy-to-handle pole saw is extendable from 140 cm to 290 cm. With the pole slid together and the blade folded, the saw is only 145 cm long, and so can be carried in any normal car. The saw weighs only 800 grams, and so is easy to use even for relatively small and light people.

The round aluminum shaft is strong and stiff, and can be locked in any length between 140 cm and 290 cm simply by turning the shaft. The grip is covered in a rubberized plastic.

The blade is 270 mm long, with a tooth count of 2.5 mm (10 TPI). The blade is 0.8 mm thick and the saw kerf is 1.4 mm, allowing it to cut branches up to 40 mm thick.

Pole Saw Silky Longboy with two extensions

This pole saw, designed and built to stand up to daily use by professionals, can be extended out to a full 3.6 meters using two telescoping tubes. A rubber safety sheath for the blade is included.

The aluminum pole is robust, and can be adjusted to any desired length. The saw has two systems to lock in the desired length: one with a spring button that provides an absolutely solid fixation, the second with a robust external clamping lever.

The oval cross section of the poles provide maximal strength and stiffness. The saw blade can be guided precisely, even at full extension, because the shaft bends very little, and the sections cannot twist inside each other. Anyone who has had to work with an extension saw with wobbly linkages, or where the head twists around while cutting, will immediately appreciate this saw. The grip is encased in rubber, and ergonomically designed.

The blade is 360 mm long, and has 7 teeth over 30 mm, which works out to one tooth every 4,3 mm (6 tpi). It is finished in hard chrome to fight rust, and tapers from the teeth to the back to help prevent binding in the cut.
