Removing the hammer head

This hammer comes with the handle only semi-fitted. Sometimes though, the head can become tightly fixed onto the handle when the wood expands due to changes in temperature and humidity. If you want to remove the hammer head, take the haft in your hand with the head hanging down. With a wooden mallet, hit each side of the hammer head in turn until the head comes off. Many light taps will work much better than a few heavy ones. There should be something soft underneath to catch the hammer head when it falls.
