Cornering tool
This cornering tool makes the same job as 4 different moulding planes. Always cut with the grain to achieve a smooth surface. These tools you can use either on the pull stroke or on the push stroke, in both cases they are easy and fast to use. Before use it is needed to check the grain orientation! As you get accustomed to using these tools, you will find them to be among the most versatile tools in your shop.
|
Hint: When rounding an edge, ist is best to first ease the edge with the next smaller diamenter. Less thickness of shavings lead to a smoother surface.

Sharpening cornering tools
The enclosed sharpening jig was specially designed as a sharpening system for the cornering tool. It can also be used to sharpen any radius cutting blade whose radii match one of the four sizes of this cornering tool. The sharpening jig has 5 radii as shown and comes with a 600 grit silicon-carbide paper. The paper is wrapped around the jig and fixed with a wedge.

|
Basic honing is best done by honing the inside radius at each end of the tool. For this purpose use the 1/2" bzw. 12,7mm-radius of the jig. Move the tool backward and forward until a keen edge is achieved.
|
Grinding the grooved side is usually not necessary. If you do so, maintain the cutting angles. The cutting angles differ by 15°. If you reduce this angle, you get problems to catch shavings.
And now much success in your work! |
