Veritas Bevel-Up Jointer Plane |
|
|
The Veritas low-angle jointer is the latest and largest member of the Veritas bevel-up bench plane family. The bevel-up blade configuration results in a plane that is versatile and straightforward to use. The 12° bed angle, coupled with the 25° blade bevel, creates an effective cutting angle of 37°. Simply increasing the blade bevel results in higher cutting angles for improved performance in more difficult-grained woods. The 2-1/4 in. (57 mm) wide blade is 3/16 in. (0.187 in.) (4.8 mm) thick and made of A2 tool steel hardened to Rc60-62. An adjustable throat plate allows a wide range of mouth adjustment. Our unique stop-screw retains mouth settings while preventing blade damage when removing and replacing blades. The Veritas low-angle jointer fence enables you to shoot consistent and accurate square or bevelled edges with this bevel-up jointer. The 11 in. (279 mm) long anodized aluminum fence can be attached to either side of the plane with the brass thumbscrews provided; a set screw can be adjusted to square the fence to the sole. As supplied, the 2 in. (51 mm) tall guiding face can be used to plane edges perfectly square to the face of your workpiece. It can also be used to shoot angles less than 90° when a bevelled wooden guide is attached to the inside face of the fence. |
