ECE Dovetail Plane
The new ECE Dovetail plane comes with a new carbide nicker. Sharpening is not necessary - just turn and use the next point. When all four cutting edges become dull, just replace with a new spur. With this new spur cutter depth adjustment is simpler.
Adjusting the plane
- When the knife spur is vertical, the cutter depth is about 0.5 mm (1/16 in.). To reduce that depth, loosen fastening screw and rotate the point clockwise. Retighten screw finger tight.
- The cutter is set at the factory to a recommended depth of about 0.3 mm (1/32 in.).
- Set the main plane iron exactly flush with the edge of the plane body. Adjust plane iron depth to about 0.1 mm (1/64 in.).
