Classic Brace with Wooden Grips and Four-Jaw Chuck This brace has a four-jawed chuck for drilling by hand. It works best with bits with a conical, square end. But it can also be used with round-shank bits, as are commonly used in electric drills or drill presses. But if there is too much load on a round-shank bit, it will tend to slip in the chuck instead of cutting in the hole.
